September 17-19, 2008, Cape Town (Republic of South Africa) will stage the International Conference and Exhibition of arms and military hardware for all types of armed forces «AFRICA AEROSPACE AND DEFENSE-2008».
The Africa Aerospace and Defense Air Show is a biennial event. In 1998, it acquired the international status and since that time, it has been enjoying support of the Aerospace, Maritime and Defense Industries Association (AMD), the Armaments Corporation of South Africa (ARMSCOR), the Commercial Aviation Association of Southern Africa, and the South African Air Force (SAAF).
The subjects of «AFRICA AEROSPACE AND DEFENSE» cover the whole range of equipment, services and the technologies of the defense industry, both military, and commercial.
Main sections of the Exhibition are:
Design and production of radio electronics;
Weapon control systems;
Service and repair;
Pre-flight preparation and safety of flights;
Design and manufacture of flying vehicles;
Arms systems for land forces;
Military and commercial shipbuilding;
New materials and technologies;
Regional and intercontinental passenger airlines;
Expositions «AFRICA AEROSPACE AND DEFENSE - 2008» will be showcased in nine pavilions. A top item on the agenda is demonstration of capabilities of new combat materiel in the grounds of specially equipped military test range. Traditionally, the exhibition program includes demo flights of military aircraft.
More than 400 companies from 25 countries and more than 22,000 representatives of business community are expected to participate in the Exhibition
Russia will participate in the Exhibition for the 5th time.
According to Order of the Government of the Russian Federation dated September 26, 2006, № the 1354-r under the aegis of FSUE Rosoboronexport, 10 defense enterprises of which 3 entities of military-technical cooperation will take part in the Exhibition.
The Russian exposition will occupy 200 sq. m to display information materials about more than 310 brands of military purpose products, including 10 models of optoelectronic sighting systems and the Malakhit automated fire control system.
Considering mutual desire of Russia and the Republic of South Africa to develop multilateral cooperation in various target industries, participation in the Exhibition «AFRICA AEROSPACE AND DEFENSE - 2008» will promote favorable conditions for more vigorous development of military-technical cooperation ties between enterprises of both of the countries.
