FOR MILITARY-TECHNICAL COOPERATION
(FSMTC of Russia)
The International LAAD 2009 Latin American Aero and Defense Exhibition will be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from 14 to 17 April 2009. Starting from 1997, the LAAD exhibition has been sponsored by the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Foreign Affaires of Brazil.
LAAD 2009 is expected to be visited by official delegations from 50 countries. Over 30 thousand sq. m will be allocated for 314 exhibitors from 30 states, 20 of which represent national displays (the largest are Brazil, Israel, Turkey, Spain, France, India, Russia, the Republic of South Africa, and Germany).
Focal areas will include advanced technologies applied in the state security system and civil aircraft developments.
To ensure consolidated participation of the Russian Federation in the Exhibition, the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation created a Russian delegation headed by А.V. Fomin, First Deputy Director of the Service, which is composed of public officials, and representatives of the military and industrial complex.
The Russian exposition is sponsored by the Rostekhnologii State Corporation. Under the Corporation's auspices, ten organizations of the Russian defense industry will demonstrate their products on an area of 206 sq. m, including ОАО the Sukhoi Company, which will introduce super-maneuverable multi-purpose fighters Su-35 and Su-30MK2, and ОАО RSK MiG, which will update on programs for the modernization of MiG fighter planes that are in service with the Air Force of Peru.
9 enterprises of Roscosmos (Russia's Federal Space Agency) will display their output on an area of 180 sq. m near the main Russian exhibition. The OAO Reshetnev-named Information Satellite Systems Company will for the first time put on display the newest specimens of Russian space research products. In particular, a full-scale nano-satellite TSN-2 will be shown for the first time.
The Russian delegation is expected to conduct a number of talks to discuss military-technical cooperation.
The Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation hopes that the International Defense Exhibition & Conference “IDEX 2009” will make it possible to further develop and strengthen military and technical cooperation and associated business relationships between Russia and its foreign partners, and, above all, with countries in Latin America and the Caribbean.
