On awarding a certificate for recognition by U.S. Department of Defence of procedures for assessing continuing airworthiness of Russian military transport helicopters
The airworthiness certificate was awarded to a Russian delegation led by Anatoly Punchuk, FSMTC Deputy Director, in Huntsville, Alabama, at an official ceremony.
The ceremony marked the end of lengthy negotiations held in Russia and the United States between experts from the Federal Aviation Administration of the U.S. Department of Defence and officials from the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation, FSMTC of Russia, Rosoboronexport OAO, experts from Vertolyoty Rossii ОАО, Mil-named Helicopter Plant OAO, and Kazan Helicopter Plant ОАО on exchange of experience in procedures for assessing airworthiness of military transport helicopters under the Contract for delivery of 21 Mi-17V-5 helicopters for the Afghan National Army.
The Huntsville ceremony was a groundbreaking event working for successful implementation of the helicopter project, and further development of military-technical cooperation with the United States of America.
