14 - 20 July, Farnborough (the UK) will host the International Air show «FARNBOROUGH INTERNATIONAL – 2008».
The air show is organized by Farnborough International Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Society of British Aerospace Companies.
For the first time, the air exhibition was held in the London hall Olympia, March 29, 1916. In 1932, it moved to airfields to show demo flights of flying vehicles. The show in the grounds of the Farnborough airfield was opened 60 years ago in 1948 to acquaint the British public with the domestic aviation industry. This year, the show will celebrate its 46th anniversary.
Thematic agenda of the exhibition includes arms and military hardware of the Air Forces and AD systems, aircraft building, commercial aviation, space vehicles, and cutting edge technologies.
Farnborough exhibitions are notable for their worldwide, rather than regional coverage of tendencies in the aircraft development.
Russia has participated in the «FARNBOROUGH INTERNATIONAL» since 1984 with civil products, and since 1988, it has been a full participant of the air show. This year, the Russian exposition combines 23 Russian defense enterprises offering information about more than 170 MPP brands, almost in all thematic sections. Among them are FSUE Rosoboronexport, FSUE ОАО PO Yalamov-named URAL Optical and Mechanical Plant, ОАО Sukhoi Company, ОАО Russian Aircraft Building Corporation MiG, ОАО Ilyushin Aviation Complex, etc.
Participants and visitors of the Russian exposition can familiarize with properties of the Russian weapons, its advantages, high combat efficiency, and reliability.
To coordinate and supervise participation of Russian defense enterprises, a Russian delegation was formed under the leadership of FSMTC of Russia First Deputy Director A.V. Fomin, composed of officials from state authorities of the Russian Federation, and enterprises of the military-industrial complex.
The FSMTC of Russia views « FARNBOROUGH INTERNATIONAL – 2008» as important stage in development and strengthening of the military-technical cooperation, and associated business ties between Russia and its foreign partners.
