From 24 to 28 June, the International Maritime Defense Show IMDS 2009 will take place at Lenexpo Exhibition Complex in St.-Petersburg.
The Show is sponsored by the Russian Federation Industry and Trade Ministry.
The total exposition will be 15,600 sq. m, of which 2,000 sq. m are outdoor sites.
Topical areas are military and civil shipbuilding.
The purpose of the Show is to render assistance in exporting Russian-made naval equipment and arms, as well as to demonstrate capabilities of shipbuilding enterprises to manufacture high-technology specimens of naval equipment.
The IMDS 2009 Sponsor Committee is headed by Vice-Chairman of the Russian Federation Government Sergey Ivanov.
260 Russian and 60 foreign companies and organizations from 25 states (Germany, France, Finland, the Netherlands, Denmark, Poland, Greece, Italy, Spain, the UK, Belarus, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, the USA, Brazil, Argentina, Venezuela, China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Lebanon, and Australia) will participate in the Show to display over 15,000 exhibits.
Military-purpose products will be showcased by 75 Russian organizations, of which 4 are MTC-affiliated entities (FSUE Rosoboronexport, ОАО Amiralteyskie Verfi, ОАО Ship Repairing Center Zvezdochka, ОАО Central Design Bureau For Marine Engineering Rubin), which stands present information about more than 500 MPP items (totaling 1,383 exhibits of which 62 are full-scale specimens).
Among the participants are major Russian designers and manufacturers of maritime hardware and arms systems: ОАО CMKB Almaz, ОАО Shipbuilding plant Severnaya Verf, ОАО Concern Sea Underwater Weapon - Gidropribor, ОАО Nevskoe Design Bureau, ОАО Zelenodolskoye Design Bureau, ОАО PO Sevmash, ZАО R.E.T. Kronshtadt, Concern Oceanpribor, ОАО Central Design Bureau Lazurit, ОАО Concern RPA Avrora, etc.
At the quay of the Sea Terminal, the RF Defense Ministry will present 4 ships.
The arrival of 5 foreign ships is expected - from the UK (frigate St. Albans), Spain (mine countermeasures ship Turia), France (minesweepers Sagittaire and Pegase), the Netherlands (amphibious transport ship Johan de Witt). Germany and France will be the largest exhibitors.
MARLOG Marine Logistik GmbH & Co.KG, German company providing after sale services, will showcase 8 German enterprises manufacturing maritime systems covering 96 sq. m. Other German major shipbuilding companies will exhibit their products on their stands.
The French exposition will be combined under GICAN, a corporation of 8 French leading shipbuilders, including DCI/Nafco, designer and manufacturer of maritime equipment from boats to ships and submarines, and providers of after sale services. All of the said companies will take part in the Show for the first time.
Italy promises an interesting contribution to the Show. It will be represented by CRM SPA Motori Marini, a major enterprise in development and manufacturing of diesel engines for waterborne vehicles. It will showcase 4 boats at the quay of the Sea Terminal and a full-scale specimen of a diesel engine in its pavilion.
At present, official delegations from 40 countries have confirmed their participation.

Workshop “Repairs Technologies”.
The artillery firing and small-arms systems demonstrations for foreign official delegations will take place at the range of the Russian Defense Ministry.
Aerobatic teams Russkie Vityazi and Strizhy will demonstrate their flying skills over the waters of the Gulf of Finland.
The Federal Service for Military and Technical Cooperation hopes that the Fourth International Maritime Defense Show IMDS 2009 will facilitate military and technical cooperation and associated business relationships with foreign partners.
