From 22 to 26 February 2009, the International Defense Exhibition & Conference “IDEX 2009” will be held in Abu-Dhabi (United Arab Emirates).
The subject-matter of the Exhibition is weapons and military equipment of land, air, sea, and air defense forces. The area under the Exhibition will be 27,000 sq. m. 68 countries are expected to participate in the Exhibition.
An agenda of the Exhibition features display of full-scale specimens of weapons and military equipment at the demonstration test range of the Exhibition (water crossing, cross-country running, etc.) and a water canal (testing of small boats and amphibians).
Russia has been an IDEX standing participant. To ensure an official representation of Russia at IDEX 2009, a composition of the Russian delegation was approved by Order issued by FSMTC of Russia as of 11 February 2009 № 16-od. A number of talks over the military-technical cooperation will be conducted during the Exhibition.
The Russian exposition is sponsored by the Rostekhnologii State Corporation. Exposition stands will be placed by 26 companies, including 19 military equipment manufacturers, 11 of which represent MTC - affiliated entities. The area under the Russian exposition is expected to be 546 sq. m.
SUE Instrument Design Bureau (KBP), FSUE the State Research Production Enterprise (GNPP) Bazalt, and ОАО Almaz-Antey Air Defense (PVO) Concern will introduce their new products, such as hand-held anti-tank grenade launcher RPG – 32 jointly developed by Russian and Jordanian experts.
This year, at IDEX 2009, 5 Russian ammunition manufacturers will take joint efforts to promote their products in the world market, such as FSUE GNPP Bazalt, Moscow, FSUE GNPP SPLAV, Tula, SUE the Federal Research Production Center (FNPC) Pribor, Moscow, FSUE the Research and Development Machine Building Institute (NIMI), Moscow, FSUE FNPC Research and Development Institute to deal with goods and materials storage problems (NIIPH), Sergiev Posad, Moscow Oblast. They present a common stand “Russian Ammunition” occupying 84 sq. m.
The Middle East weaponry market has a significant capacity and remains the major market for Russian arms export.
The Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation hopes that the International Defense Exhibition & Conference “IDEX 2009” will make it possible to further develop and strengthen military-technical cooperation and associated business relationships between Russia and its foreign partners, and, above all, Middle East states.
