Results of the International Maritime Defense Show IMDS 2009

The Fourth International Maritime Defense Show, a high-profile world show of maritime arms and shipbuilding, was closed on 28 June.
The Show was sponsored by the Russian Federation Industry and Trade Ministry under auspices of the Russian Federation Defense Ministry and the Federal Service for Military and Technical Cooperation.
An IMDS 2009 wide format made it possible to present products of enterprises both at stands and as demo full-scale specimens at the quay of the Sea Terminal (ships and boats from the RF Ministry of Defense, FSB of Russia, and guest ships of foreign states - the UK, France, and the Netherlands), and demonstrate in action maritime artillery equipment at the test range, discuss theoretical and practical issues during a variety of events of the business agenda.
The Show offered an opportunity to hold numerous official talks, including 12 with participation of the Russian Navy Commander-in-Chief, 8 with participation of FSMTC officials, and over 30 with participation of FSUE Rosoboronexport officials.
V.K. Dzirkaln, FSMTC Deputy Director, had meetings and talks with naval command from Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Qatar, officials from delegations of Oman, and India to discuss status and prospects of military and technical cooperation between Russia and those states.
Talks with officials of the French delegation resulted in signing the Protocol of the 11th meeting of the Russian-French Military-Technical Committee.
K.N. Biriulin, FSMTC Deputy Director, had a meeting with officials from Kazakhstan to discuss bilateral relations in the area of military and technical cooperation.
FSUE Rosoboronexport and the International Company TALES signed a Memorandum on development of naval cooperation.
For the first time during the International Maritime Defense Show, an agenda was offered for the Association of naval attaches in Russia, a group of naval attaches of different countries took part in the exhibition and highly appreciated a level of IMDS 2009 preparation and efficiency
An extensive agenda was fully implemented, this was the Show unprecedented in its format and scope. Results of the Show testify to its high demand from maritime enterprises. The Show confirmed a high-profile status of the event and its magnitude in the world’s system of arms and equipment exhibitions.
